Alain E. Medina is a field applications specialist at Ecolab's Purolite business, supporting pharmaceutical and biotechnology customers across Europe with expertise in downstream purification, bioprocessing and biotechnology implementation. Based in Barcelona, he works with customers from early development phases through large-scale manufacturing. Previously, Medina served as platform development manager at Sartorius Stedim Biotech, sales development manager at Cytiva (formerly GE Life Sciences) and GE Healthcare, and technical project leader at FUJIFILM Diosynth Biotechnologies. In these roles, he led teams in the development and industrial-scale purification of recombinant proteins and monoclonal antibodies. Prior to his work in life sciences, Medina developed expertise in Quality by Design, Design of Experiments and regulatory compliance within GMP environments. Medina holds a degree in chemical engineering from the Superior Polytechnic Institute José Antonio Echevarría (ISPJAE).
