A New Injection Needle - Verified and Validated for Intravitreal Applications
Information
Terumo will present a new injection needle addressing treatments of sensitive areas such as the vitreous – in respect to a significant demand for curing of vision-impairing diseases. One key feature of the new development is an integrated filter, intended to prevent the injection of particulates in the vitreous region.
Globally, around 8 million people suffer from age-related macular degeneration; the equivalent figure for diabetic retinopathy is 3.9 million. Intravitreal injections can deliver effective treatments for bot. Optimized solutions for intravitreal injection are becoming increasingly important.
Recent field safety notices point to the practice of using injection needles off-label for intravitreal application.
For the Terumo Injection Filter Needle all the verification and validation activities required for a specific indication for intravitreal injection are in place to offer a complete solution when combined with a similarly validated syringe.
Key features:
- Needle Hub with integrated filter of 5µm
- Needle Cannula with 30G Extra-Thin-Wall
