TAPS: TAG Assisted Peptide Synthesis
Information
TAPS (TAG-Assisted Peptide Synthesis) is an innovative, green, and scalable peptide manufacturing technology developed to overcome the limitations of solid-phase synthesis. It uses a proprietary TAG-anchor molecule that retains peptides in solution, allowing continuous cycles of synthesis with aqueous washes after each step. This eliminates the need for resin, reduces organic solvent use by >90%, and replaces toxic reagents like piperidine with greener alternatives.
TAPS is compatible with standard peptide chemistry (Fmoc, Boc) and enables advanced modifications, fragment strategies, and inline process analytics (PAT). Unlike SPPS, TAPS can be executed in standard reactors, from gram to multi-hundred-kilogram scale, using existing infrastructure.
The platform supports automation and real-time monitoring, offering a step-change in process control, sustainability, and scalability. Its feasibility has been proven on GLP-1 peptide synthesis.
TAPS delivers high purity, cost-efficiency, and environmental benefits—making it the most versatile and future-ready solution for next-generation peptide production.
