New Greener Packaging for Neupro E.U

UCB redesigned its NEUPRO® pack in 2025 to address environmental footprint concerns while maintaining the patient’s unboxing experience.

This redesign activity, driven by a Life Cycle Assessment, focuses on reducing CO₂ emissions by removing unnecessary plastic components, switching to lighter and fully recyclable folding carton, and tailoring pack sizes to minimize excess material. These changes result in a 67% reduction in packaging weight and a 75% decrease in carbon emissions on average compared to previous versions. The new packaging eliminates over 100 tons of materials annually, including 81 356 kg of plastic, and reduces waste treatment emissions by over 50%.

The leaflet was also redesigned, cutting its weight and emissions by 26%.

The new format is compatible with existing production lines, requires no additional investment, and improves logistics by allowing up to 185% more products per pallet.

Feedback from patients, production, and distributors has been positive, highlighting easier handling, improved box strength, and more efficient shipping.

The new packaging is now sold across many European countries, supporting UCB’s commitment to both patient centricity and environmental responsibility.
