JUVIAGEL - Vaginal moisturizing gel

Problem: Vaginal dryness (or atrophy) is a condition caused by a decreased level of the estrogen hormone. It is characterized by a thinning, dehydrated and possibly inflamed vaginal wall. A dry vagina means uncomfortable or painful sex. In more severe cases it may cause a dry, itchy or even burning feeling even without physical impact. Solution: JUVIAGEL has a dual mode of action: (1) Hydration on the surface of the vaginal mucosa. (2) Estrogen deficiency leads to a decrease in the amount of elastin and collagen that provide elasticity in the vaginal connective tissue. Zinc contributes to halting and reversing these changes in the connective tissue. Target Group: Most women start experiencing vaginal dryness around the menopausal transition when estrogen levels naturally drop. Other triggers include gynecologic surgeries, oral contraceptives, giving birth and breastfeeding, etc. Existing Alternatives: Lubricants, hormone replacement therapy (HRT) and recently laser treatment are aimed at treating vaginal dryness. All of them have pros and cons. There are also several other moisturizers available on the market. Results demonstrated that it significantly improves postmenopausal vulvovaginal symptoms without serious side effects. Published in 2019 at Journal of Menopausal Medicine 2019;25:63-68. Product: 44 ml gel in aluminum tube with one vaginal applicator packed in foil and leaflet. Availability: JUVIAGEL is commercially available in Hungary since 2018 as a MDD CE marked Medical Device.
