Information
GASTRO STOP is a class IIa medical device, having an anti-reflux action and containing sodium alginate, sodium bicarbonate, sodium carbonateand calcium carbonate. PRODUCT The product is indicated to reduce gastro-oesophageal reflux diseasesymptoms, including heartburn, gastric pyrosis during pregnancy, reflux oesophagitis, acid regurgitation, maldigestion, reflux night-time symptoms, cough and laryngo pharyngeal inflammation. It acts quickly to stop acid reflux, reducing heart burn and protecting the oesophageal mucosa. INNOVATION FEATURES The product mechanically prevents the rise of gastric contents towards the esophagus (gastro-esophageal reflux). The alginate, in contact with the acidic pH of the stomach, reacts to form a low-density viscous gel. The carbonates, in the presence of acid, favor the development of carbon dioxide bubbles that remain trapped in the gel, allowing it to float on the surface of the gastric content, in correspondence with the esophageal sphincter. The resulting raft, whose strength is favoured by the presence of calcium ions, significantly reduces reflux episodes, helping to preserve the esophagus from further irritative attacks and giving rapid relief from reflux-related symptoms. Carbonates also help to buffer the excess acidity of gastric juice, reducing the burning feeling.
