Skilarence is the only EMA-approved fumaric acid ester (FAE) for psoriasis, whose clinical onset starts as early as week 3 and reaches maximum effect at week 24. It is a safe and flexible first-line treatment thanks to its dose titration and meets the needs of poly-medicated patients due to its lack of drug interactions and compatibility with topicals and phototherapy. It is recommended for long-term use and it modulates the immune response instead of supressing it while it also acts as anti-inflammatory and poses no toxic nor teratogenic effects.
