Information

Medicines and medical devices in paper bags? What works well for food could also serve as sustainable packaging in the pharmaceutical and healthcare industry. Faller Packaging has now developed paper pouches as a possible alternative to folding cartons. The Paper Pouch concept quickly moved from an idea to reality, driven by the pressing need for more eco-friendly packaging solutions. The team at Faller Packaging collaborated closely with material experts and the machinery manufacturer Schubert-Pharma to ensure that the pouches would meet the rigorous standards required for pharmaceutical secondary packaging. Their goal was clear: create a paper-based solution that was not only biodegradable and recyclable but also sealable and durable enough to protect sensitive medical products. Paper pouches offer numerous advantages: The lower weight reduces storage, transport and waste volumes - users save up to 90 percent CO2 and optimize their carbon footprint. This has been confirmed by an independent life cycle assessment. There is a choice of different papers, with and without additional coating. The bags are sealable and offer integrated first-opening protection thanks to the manufacturing process. Additional material, such as a tamper-evident label, is therefore unnecessary. They are recyclable and can be disposed of in the waste paper garbage can after use.
