Information

Ion exchange chromatography (IEX) separates proteins and other biomolecules based on their charge. IEX resins have charged functional groups that bind molecules with an opposite charge. Bound molecules are most commonly eluted by an ascending salt gradient. Alternatively, a shift in pH that changes the charge of the target molecule can be introduced. The most common ion exchangers are based on sulphopropyl chemistry (strong cation exchangers, Praesto SP) or quaternary amine chemistry (strong anion exchangers, Praesto Q) and maintain their charge over a wide pH interval. Praesto SP and Praesto Q are high performance ion exchange resins optimized for large scale purification of recombinant proteins such as monoclonal antibodies and other biomolecules. Affinity chromatography is a highly selective technique used for the purification of biomolecules. Affinity chromatography resins are produced by coupling ligands that specifically binds to the targ
