BIEFFE FIBER is a class IIa medical device with a laxative effect containing Fibersol(R)-2. PRODUCT The product is intended for the treatment of the symptoms and the prevention of constipation. BIEFFE FIBER improves symptoms ofconstipation by regularizing the stool frequency, facilitates the correct bowel function and prevents the recurrence of acute episodes of constipation. INNOVATION FEATURES BIEFFE FIBER is characterized by the presence of Fibersol(R)-2, a glucan with a branched structure, produced by the combination of heat and enzymatic treatment of cornstarch. The complex polymeric structure of this soluble fibre makes it mostly indigestible and non-absorbable from the gastrointestinal tract. Thanks to its intrinsic ability to retain a significant amount of water, Fibersol(R)-2 increases faecal bulkin the bowel, resulting in dilation of the intestine wall, and normalizes stool consistency. Through this physical mechanism, Fibersol(R)-2 improves intestinal transit both in terms of increased stool frequency and reduction in discomforts and annoyances related to defecation, thus by contributing to the maintenance of a good intestinal regularity and prevention ofthe recurrence of acute episodes of the disorder.
