Information

Aptar Pharma and Haleon worked collaboratively, taking a patient-centric approach to developing a new innovative next generation nasal mist device that could revolutionize the nasal decongestant segment. Beginning with extensive consumer and patient research we designed primary packaging features that would eliminate much of the patient hesitance encountered with nasal sprays and provide significant opportunities to expand the market for nasal spray decongestant products. Otrivin Nasal Mist represents a breakthrough innovation in nasal spray applications and is the first nasal congestion device to have incorporated so many key innovative features including:

· Aptar Pharma’s Lateral Control System (LCS) side actuation button for ease of use.

· Shorter nozzle for improved nasal comfort and reduction of hesitance.

· Microdroplet technology dispenses a fine mist of formulation that effectively coats target nasal tissue, avoiding uncomfortable postnasal drip.

· Improves circularity using minimum 80% bio-resin material that reduces virgin fossil-based resin use.

· Both companies operated under an ISCC Mass balance approach for entire supply chain for both companies.

· Strong market uptake and exceeded sales targets in a number of markets.

It’s a step change product that will open-up access to nasal congestion delivery to even the most reluctant patients, which could represent tens of millions of additional nasal decongestant patients each year. It provides them a new treatment option for direct delivery of drug to congestion site as opposed to conventional solid oral or suspension products. By addressing the root cause of user reluctance and discomfort, Otrivin Nasal Mist paves the way for a more accessible, sustainable and preferred approach to nasal congestion relief.
